LYTTON – The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a pile burning project located at the Skihist Provincial Park approximately eight kilometres northeast of the Village of Lytton.
Smoke from piles may be visible from the communities of Lytton, Gladwin, Nicomen and Lytton First Nations.
BC Wildfire Service crews will be working to burn approximately 20 piles. This project is taking place in conjunction with danger tree falling in order to remove hazards to trail users and to reduce the accumulations of fuels (e.g., dead wood or brush) around the Old Wagon trail within the park.
The exact timing of this burn will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as March 4, 2025, and will be ongoing. Burning will only proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations, though smoke may also linger in the following days.
