Area restriction implemented in vicinity of Ainslie Creek wildfire



HOPE – The BC Wildfire Service is implementing an Area Restriction Order within the vicinity of the Ainslie Creek wildfire (V10755), located east of the Fraser River near Boston Bar. This Order takes effect at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Friday, August 14, 2026, and will remain in place until 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on August 31, 2026, or until the order is otherwise rescinded.

This area restriction is being implemented to address public and responder safety and limit public interference in areas where fire suppression activities are taking place. Please note that the affected area spans portions of both the Coastal Fire Centre and the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Under this Order and Section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area unless the person is:

a) Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity;
b) Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities;
c) Travelling to or from their principal residence, that is not under an evacuation order;
d) Travelling to or from their private or leased property for the purposes of accessing their secondary residence or recreational property, that is not under an evacuation order;
e) Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act; or
f) Engaging and/or participating in agricultural activities pertaining to livestock or agriculture management on Crown Range, Crown Grazing Lease, private or leased property.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below and outlined on the provided map.

North boundary: Commencing at Point 1 (50° 4.006′, -121° 32.700′) at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Cascades Forest District boundary, follow the Cascades Forest District boundary east to Point 2 (50°12.228′, -121° 18.048′) at the intersection of the Cascades Forest District boundary and Nicomen Sackum Forest Service Road. Take a bearing of 30.8325° and travel 117 metres to an unnamed tributary of the Platt River and continue generally east to the Platt River. Continue east along the Platt River to Shakan Creek, and continue east along Shakan Creek to Point 3 (50° 17.255′, -121° 10.503′) at the confluence of Shakan Creek and the Nicola River.

East boundary: Commencing at Point 3 (50° 17.255′, -121° 10.503′), follow the Nicola River generally southeast to Point 4 (50° 8.719′, -121° 1.216′) at the confluence of the Nicola River and Spius Creek. Continue generally south along Spius Creek to Point 5 (50° 2.022′, -121° 2.845′) at the confluence of Spius Creek and an unnamed tributary of Spius Creek. From Point 5, travel generally southeast along the unnamed tributary of Spius Creek to Point 6 (50° 1.593′, -121° 1.753′) at the intersection of the unnamed tributary of Spius Creek and Spius Creek Forest Service Road. Continue generally southeast along the Spius Creek Forest Service Road to the intersection of the Spius Creek Forest Service Road and Pratchett Road. Continue southeast along Pratchett Road to Point 7 (49° 59.022′, -120° 55.682′) at the intersection of Patchett Road and the Coldwater River. From Point 7, continue south along the Coldwater River to Point 8 (49° 52.789′, -120° 54.415′) at the intersection of the Coldwater River and Highway 5. From Point 8, continue southwest along Highway 5 to Point 9 (49° 35.803′, -121° 9.076′) at the intersection of Highway 5 and the western boundary of the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area.

South boundary: Commencing at Point 9 (49° 35.803′, -121° 9.076′), travel northwest along the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area boundary to Point 10 (49° 36.511′, -121° 9.623′). Take a bearing of 316.3950° and travel 260 metres to an unnamed tributary of the Anderson River. Continue generally northwest to the confluence of the unnamed tributary of the Anderson River and then travel generally northwest along the Anderson River to Point 11 (49° 40.229′, -121° 18.741′) at the intersection of the Anderson River and Road Permit R01679, Section E001. Continue generally west along Road Permit R01679, Section E001 to Section A100D, and then to A100C to where the road approaches the Fraser River, and continue west to Point 12 (49° 40.269′, -121° 24.633′) on the Fraser River.

West boundary: Commencing at Point 12 (49° 40.269′, -121° 24.633′) continue north along the Fraser River to Point 13 (49° 42.128′, -121° 24.584′) at the intersection of the Fraser River and the Trans-Canada Highway. From Point 13, continue north along the Trans-Canada Highway back to Point 1 (50° 4.006′, -121° 32.700′).

Failure to comply with Section 11(2) restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket of $1,150.
