Your homeowner’s or tenant’s insurance policy will likely cover living costs if you are under an Evacuation Order. You may also consider staying with family or friends in another community if you are evacuated. If those are not options available to you, you may be eligible for Emergency Support Services (ESS). ESS is a provincial program administered by local governments and First Nations that provides temporary support to people and their families for essentials like accommodation, food, clothing and transportation if other supports aren’t available.
Great work! Your First Nation or local government will provide further instructions on how to access ESS if you are placed under an Evacuation Order.

All standard homeowner’s and tenant’s insurance policies cover the cost of alternative accommodations and living expenses for people who are prohibited from returning home due to an Evacuation Order.
