STONEY CREEK – BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) staff in co-operation with Saik’uz First Nation, Laketown, Vanderhoof Fire Rescue and Fort St. James Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting prescribed burns with multiple small units totaling to 68 hectares, around Stoney Creek and Laketown.
Smoke may be visible from Vanderhoof and to motorists travelling along Highway 16 and Kenney Dam Road.
Key goal: Maintenance grass burning for hazard mitigation and prescribed fire training around Saik’uz reserve areas for BCWS, Saik’uz and local emergency response partners.
The expected burn day for the training course is set to take place April 23, further units could be burned from April – early May, all depending on suitable weather and conditions.
