Prescribed burn near Moberly Lake hillside

Moberly Lake – The BC Wildfire Service will be supporting Saulteau First Nations and the Crown Land Wildfire Risk Reduction program in conducting a prescribed burn covering up to 50 hectares in the Moberly Lake area.

Smoke may be visible to Saulteau First Nations, Moberly Lake, Chetwynd, surrounding areas, and to travelers along Highway 29.

Key goal: Supporting cultural objectives through cross‑training with Saulteau First Nations, BC Wildfire Service staff and the Moberly Lake Volunteer Fire Department, while collaboratively reducing grass fire risk in the area.

The burn may take place as early as Friday, April 24, 2026 depending on suitable conditions. This project has been carefully planned and will only go ahead at the right time and under the right conditions to ensure community and staff safety.
