Area Restriction in effect for the Kiskatinaw River (G70422) area



PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Wildfire Service is issuing an Area Restriction for the vicinity of the Kiskatinaw River (G70422) wildfire located in the Dawson Creek fire zone. The size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities and hazardous fire behaviour conditions.

This Order takes effect at 7 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Wednesday June, 18 2025 and remains in force until the earlier of October 15, 2025 or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below:
Starting at Kiskatinaw River Point 1 (55° 19.769′ N, 120° 10.609′ W) the northern boundary runs East for approximately 5.7 km where it crosses Hwy 52 at Point 2 (55° 20.398′ N, 120° 5.254′ W) then continues for another 5.4 km to Point 3 (55° 20.336′ N, 120° 0.081′ W) at the BC-Alberta Border east of Beaverlodge Lake.

From this corner the boundary runs south along the B.C.-Alberta border to make up the eastern boundary, through Point 4 (55° 18.210′ N, 120° 0.083′ W) at an unnamed resource road, continuing south along the BC-Alberta border intersecting the Kelly Lake Rd/Township Rd 724 at Point 5 (55° 15.454′ N, 120° 0.093′ W), continuing south to the South East corner Point 6 (55° 7.358′ N, 120° 0.079′ W).The southern boundary then runs South-West for approximately 13.8 km to Point 7 (55° 4.573′ N, 120° 12.127′ W) where Hwy 52 and the 10886/TRANSFER forest resource road intersect.

It then heads north following Hwy 52 to make up the western boundary for approximately 5 km to Point 8 (55° 7.184′ N, 120° 13.184′ W), then veering North-West to Point 9 (55° 11.262′ N, 120° 20.485′ W) at the intersection of resource road PDR 281 and an unnamed road. It then continues North-North-East towards Point 10 (55° 14.798′ N, 120° 18.054′ W) the intersection of two unnamed resource roads then North-East to where the Kiskatinaw River meets Ministik Creek at Point 11 (55° 15.670′ N, 120° 15.045′ W). Following the east side of the Kiskatinaw River North-East back to the point of commencement to finish the western boundary.

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:

Enters the area only in the course of:
(a) Travelling to or from his or her residence;
(b) Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act; or
(c) Entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity;
(d) Entering the area for an approved purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
