Area Restriction in effect for Pocket Knife Creek



PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Wildfire Service is issuing an Area Restriction for the vicinity of wildfire G80352 located in the Fort St. John fire zone. The size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities and hazardous fire behaviour conditions.

This Order takes effect at 12:00, Pacific Daylight Time on Saturday, May 31, 2025 and remains in force until the earlier of October 15, 2025 or until the Order is rescinded.

This Order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below:

Starting at the intersection of Richards Creek and the Prophet River. From a point on the South bank of the Prophet River at Coordinate A (57° 39.214′, -123° 27.451′) travel 29.61km East at a bearing of 93.76 to a point on Daniels Creek at Coordinate B (57° 38.671′, -122° 48.165′). Travel along the West bank of Daniels Creek Southeast approx. 48.29km to where it joins the Buckinghorse River at Coordinate C (57° 25.220′, -122° 31.312′). Travel 20.03km West at a bearing of 263.54 degrees to a point on the Alaska Hwy (Hwy 97) just north of Buckinghorse River at Coordinate D (57° 23.980′, -122° 51.174′). Continue travelling 24.34km West at a bearing of 258.62 degrees to a point on the Buckinghorse River at Coordinate E (57° 21.354′, -123° 14.958′). Travel 35.42km at a bearing 339.46 degrees to Coordinate A (57° 39.214′, -123° 27.451′)

Under section 11(1) of the Wildfire Act, and pursuant to the authority delegated to me by the Minister of Forests, to address a public safety concern arising from area wildfires and in order to avoid interference with fire control.


Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:


Enters the area only in the course of:
(a) Travelling to or from his or her residence;
(b) Using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
(c) Entering the area as a person acting in an official capacity;
(d) Entering the area for an approved purpose of supporting wildfire suppression activities;
(e) Entering the area for the purposes of carrying out an industrial activity at a regulated oil and gas site.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
