The first sign may be a loud bang, rumble, or it could be an alert on your cellphone, TV or radio thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca\/eew-asp\/system-en.php\">Canadian Earthquake Early Warning system<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Earthquake Early Warning system<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UvE-vjmdH24\">Canadian Earthquake Early Warning system<\/a> detects an earthquake immediately after it occurs, and then issues an alert that can give seconds to tens-of-seconds of warning before the strong shaking starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The Earthquake Early Warning system will send alerts to the public through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicsafety.gc.ca\/cnt\/mrgnc-mngmnt\/mrgnc-prprdnss\/ntnl-pblc-lrtng-sstm-en.aspx\">National Public Alerting System<\/a>. Alerts will appear on TV, radio and compatible cellphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">Other countries such as Japan, Taiwan and the United States also have earthquake early warning systems in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do if you receive an alert<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">If you receive an emergency alert on your phone, read it.
