Donnaree brings a wealth of legal experience to her new role, including as Acting Commissioner for the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week\u2019s Bulletin also contains information on the new K\u201312 Literacy Support Community of Practice, an expansion of the PreVenture program in B.C. schools, and an alert on how to identify fraudulent online programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three reporting requirements are referenced as well: employment of certificate holders, Classroom Enhancement Fund and the BCTEA Joint Verification Process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, there are several webinars and presentations being held in the coming weeks. This is a reminder for school districts to register their district\u2019s lead for early literacy for the CoP. School districts may also register one additional representative as a second participant to support their district\u2019s participation, such as a director of instruction, primary teacher or French immersion teacher. Please note that early literacy leads are required to participate in the K\u201312 Literacy Supports CoP, consistent with the terms of the Professional Learning Grants provided to school districts. The goal of this initiative is to support more First Nation students to consider teaching as a career path and, ultimately, help to increase the number of First Nation teachers in the K\u201312 education system. Applications for this EOI must be developed and implemented in partnership with one or more local First Nations and one or more post-secondary institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications, including proposed budget and letters of support from First Nation partners, are due by 4 pm on January 30, 2026. PreVenture uses brief, personality-focused workshops to promote mental health and delay and\/or reduce substance use among youth. The program aims to equip youth in Grades&nbsp;7\u20139 with self-efficacy and cognitive behavioural skills to help them navigate common challenges such as stress, peer pressure, interpersonal conflict and identity development.
