Hello everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s already June. While I know this is one of the busiest months in the K-12 system, I hope you\u2019re all preparing for a slightly slower schedule and the opportunity to decompress once this school year ends. June is full of celebrations beyond just graduation and the end of the school year. It\u2019s also Indigenous Peoples\u2019 History Month, culminating on June 21 with National Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Day. June is also Pride Month. Please see the statement in celebration and recognition of Pride Month from Minister Beare and BC\u2019s K-12 Education partners below, and share it freely.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week\u2019s Bulletin includes some reminders about early learning and child care reporting due later this month, as well as an update on the BC Provincial Nomination Program for ECEs that might be of use to those districts with District-led child care. We\u2019re also hosting a valuable Community of Practice along with Safer Schools Together to assist with summer planning for vulnerable kids that district staff can register for. There is also additional information related to the upcoming call for graduating students with Premier David Eby that we have mentioned in previous bulletins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am pleased to announce that Michelle Lattimore will be appointed as the new Assistant Deputy Minister, Child Care Programs and Policy, effective\u202fSeptember 2, 2025.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michelle brings over a decade of senior executive experience leading dynamic and empowered teams in the delivery of some of the federal government\u2019s most challenging files, most recently as Director General of the Federal Secretariat on Early Learning and Child Care at Employment and Social Development Canada.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a deep understanding of the challenges facing the childcare sector in British Columbia and across the country, and as a passionate advocate for collaborative policy design, Michelle is uniquely positioned to support our ongoing work to improve access to affordable childcare across the Province. Moreover, her considerable experience leading complex transformation initiatives \u2014 including the introduction of human-centred service design at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada as well as the establishment of cross-departmental integration at the Privy Council Office \u2014 will be invaluable as we strategically evolve our ministry to support the learning and development of children from birth through graduation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa.\u202fHaving worked remotely with her team in Ottawa since relocating to Vancouver with her family in September of 2023, Michelle is looking forward to working more closely to home, as well as to spending time in Victoria on a regular basis.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In advance of Michelle joining us in the fall, Emily Arthur has kindly agreed to serve as the acting ADM over the summer months.\u202f Thank you for your support and leadership, Emily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
