{"id":63193,"date":"2026-01-30T08:10:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T16:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/ecc-dm-bulletin\/?post_type=article&#038;p=63193"},"modified":"2026-01-30T14:02:44","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T22:02:44","slug":"child-care-operating-funding-2026-2027-renewal-open","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/ecc-dm-bulletin\/article\/child-care-operating-funding-2026-2027-renewal-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Care Operating Funding 2026 &#8211; 2027 Renewal Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group hide-on-main\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"taxonomy-action_or_info wp-block-post-terms\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/ecc-dm-bulletin\/action_or_info\/for-info\/\" rel=\"tag\">For Information<\/a><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"taxonomy-release_date article-release-date wp-block-post-terms\"><span class=\"wp-block-post-terms__prefix\">Published <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/ecc-dm-bulletin\/release_date\/2026-01-30\/\" rel=\"tag\">Friday January 30 2026<\/a><\/div>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-post-title\">Child Care Operating Funding 2026 &#8211; 2027 Renewal Open<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As of January 7, 2026, child care providers can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mychildcareservices.gov.bc.ca\/login\">renew<\/a>&nbsp;their <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content?id=A09393D52625431690857CB1F04B5213\">Child Care Operating Funding<\/a> and opt into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/family-social-supports\/caring-for-young-children\/childcarebc-programs\/child-care-fee-reduction-initiative-provider-opt-in-status\">Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/family-social-supports\/caring-for-young-children\/childcarebc-programs\/wage-enhancement\">Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement<\/a> programs for 2026-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As in previous years, providers joining the fee reduction program for the first time must start with fees that reflect typical rates in their region. Providers already in the fee reduction program may increase fees by up to 3% of the regional median fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there are several important policy shifts for the CCFRI including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As of April 1, 2026, providers in the fee reduction program may only charge optional fees for extended hours after offering a minimum of 9.5 hours of care during regular operating hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a <strong>streamlined pathway for school board-operated child care programs<\/strong> to set fees that help recover reasonable costs to operate child care on school grounds. This aligns with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gov.bc.ca\/32875\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent changes<\/a>&nbsp;to enable school districts in B.C. to support families with more child care on school grounds.
