The Government of British Columbia has proclaimed November 25 to 29, 2024, as Careers Week<\/a>, reflecting its commitment to work with educators and education partners to support career education and expand students\u2019 knowledge of diverse career pathways. The ministry invites teachers and students to take part in this inaugural celebration of the importance of K-12 career education by presenting local events at their school, or attending provincial, online activities scheduled during the week.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Save the Date Reminder: Careers Week November 25 to 29, 2024<\/h1><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Government of British Columbia has proclaimed November 25 to 29, 2024, as Careers Week<\/a>, reflecting its commitment to work with educators and education partners to support career education and expand students\u2019 knowledge of diverse career pathways. The ministry invites teachers and students to take part in this inaugural celebration of the importance of K-12 career education by presenting local events at their school, or attending provincial, online activities scheduled during the week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Education and Employers Charity, UBC Geering Up and Outreach, and SkilledTradesBC, these activities will bring the world of work into the classroom, expand students\u2019 knowledge of career possibilities, and provide links between competencies acquired at school and skills required in diverse, high-demand careers. Limited room is available for each event, and participation will be on a \u201cfirst come, first served\u201d basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event 1: UBC Geering Up and Outreach \u2013 10:00 am (1 hour)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of an exciting series on future careers in engineering, students in grades 3 to 5 will explore three dynamic demonstrations, each showcasing a different lens into renewable energy and materials. Focusing on aerospace, chemical, and material engineering, this event will offer students a hands-on look into the world of engineering. Students will think like engineers\u2014making hypotheses, predictions, and even improvements\u2014while following along with discussions and a worksheet.
