The symbol indicates that the student still wants the opportunity to show further evidence of learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cIE\u201d symbol:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can be used in grades K-12<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is temporary and must be converted to another letter grade or scale indicator within one calendar year (or a shorter duration as decided by the teacher or principal)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May be subject to local policy requiring conversion before the end of a school year or semester, meaning it cannot carry over to the following year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May carry over to the following school year if decided by the teacher or principal. However, an agreed-upon plan must be in place specifying who (e.g. the teacher or principal) is responsible for the conversion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is not an entitlement for students or parents and caregivers.
