The feedback period for the dual credit policy discussion draft has closed. While the ministry engages in the next steps of the policy review process, the current dual credit policy will remain in place for 2024\/25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of a comprehensive dual credit policy review process, the ministry engaged over 35 education partners in 2022\/23 to collectively identify policy barriers and opportunities to expand access to dual credit participation. Feedback gathered through these engagements was incorporated into a discussion draft policy. The draft proposed substantive changes, from removing the career declaration requirement to enabling students to enrol in dual credit throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This discussion draft was posted online in January, with feedback due at the end of April. Responses to the draft were largely supportive of the proposed revisions. Feedback also included helpful suggestions to improve the clarity of some of the draft sections, or to provide complementary content that could be included in a dual credit guidebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the partner engagements and responses to the discussion draft emphasized an immediate need for revisions to current dual credit policy. However, the Ministry is not in a position to move forward with policy changes at this time, so the current dual credit policy will remain in place for the upcoming 2024\/25 school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the ministry continues to support dual credit programming connected to early childhood education, health careers, and other in-demand occupations. Ministry resources and staff are available to support school districts in reviewing their plans for next year and growing dual credit within the parameters of current policy.
