In memory of the late Mazina Giizhik (Murray Sinclair), O.C., Senator
Pursuant to British Columbia’s policy on half-masting, the Canadian flag at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria will be flown at half-mast in memory of the late Mazina Giizhik (Murray Sinclair), O.C., Senator, who passed away on November 4, 2024. The Canadian flag will be flown at half-mast from now (November 4, 2024) until sunset tomorrow and again from sunrise to sunset on the day of the funeral or memorial service (to be determined).
The direction of the Province on half-masting protocols is provided in case school districts wish to follow a similar approach. Districts might want to reach out to local First Nations to discuss an approach.
