Jennifer McCrea
Acting Deputy Minister of Education and Child Care

Hi everyone,

It’s a short bulletin this week! Just a couple of items to note: a virtual presentation on internet child exploitation, as part of the erase Organized Crime and Exploitation Information Series and Community of Practice, and a new $10 a Day ChildCareBC intake until October 31.

Much gratitude to each of you for all that you do.

Wishing everyone a restful, long Thanksgiving weekend.

Jennifer

New $10 a Day Intake open until October 31

The Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia, through the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, have partnered to open a new $10 a Day ChildCareBC intake this fall from October 1 to October 31. This is part of the commitment to expand access to $10 a day child care throughout British Columbia. B.C. has already passed its initial goal of more than 15,000 spaces by the end of 2024 and is on track to achieve the next goal of 20,000 spaces by spring 2026.

Eligible providers can apply through the My ChildCareBC Services portal with their existing login credentials to become a $10 a Day ChildCareBC Centre. Successful applicants will be notified in the new year.
