Pursuant to British Columbia’s policy on half-masting, the Canadian flag at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria will be flown at half-mast on Friday, November 8, 2024, from sunrise until sunset for Indigenous Veterans’ Day and again from sunrise to sunset on Monday, November 11, 2024, for Remembrance Day. The direction of the Province on half-masting protocols is provided in case school districts wish to follow a similar approach.

Part of BC’s strategy for mental health and substance use care, ICY teams are community-based, multidisciplinary teams that deliver wrap-around mental health and substance use services and supports for children and youth up to age 19. Community of Practice Session – Trauma-informed approaches and district policies for memorials – Nov 19, 2024
Safe School Coordinators are invited to attend an upcoming Community of Practice session on November 19, from 3:15-4:30 pm to discuss trauma-informed approaches and developing district and school policies for memorials. This session will provide Safe School Coordinators with an opportunity to share concerns, explore best practices and identify necessary supports for next steps. Participants are encouraged to register via the Community of Practice web page, which includes guiding questions to facilitate the discussion.
