Boards of education that have Early Learning and Child Care Leads are required to complete the District Early Learning and Child Care Lead Interim Report by November 29. Information from the report is collected to understand the top three child care projects on school grounds that are planned/underway in your district. Save the Date Reminder: Careers Week November 25 to 29, 2024
The Government of British Columbia has proclaimed November 25 to 29, 2024, as Careers Week, reflecting its commitment to work with educators and education partners to support career education and expand students’ knowledge of diverse career pathways. The ministry invites teachers and students to take part in this inaugural celebration of the importance of K-12 career education by presenting local events at their school, or attending provincial, online activities scheduled during the week.

Feeding Futures Fund and Student and Family Affordability Fund Interim Reporting
School districts are required to complete the interim financial report (downloadable .xls) for the Feeding Futures Fund and the Student and Family Affordability Fund. Completed reports must be submitted to ECC.schoolfood@gov.bc.ca by December 31, 2024. Please read the instructions carefully, as the reporting template includes a report for each of the following:
- 2024/25 Feeding Futures expenditures to date
- 2024/25 expenditures to date for carry over 2023/24 Student and Family Affordability funding

Seeking Your Input on the Student Success Website
Since its launch in 2017, the Student Success website has become an important tool providing public-facing school, district or community data through summary reports, dashboards and other data visualizations. The goal is to present data in context to help analyze provincial and local performance to support parents and student learning. The ministry is seeking input from sector users to update the site.

Cancellation of Teaching Certificates
On November 1, 2024, the teaching certificates of 2,381 certificate holders were cancelled because their 2024/25 annual practice fee was not paid. Please visit News & Notices in the Employers’ Area to review the list of cancellations as those who were recently employed by your school district will be flagged. Ensure that the teachers you still employ remain certified; if you are employing people who are no longer certified please work with them to reapply. If you have questions, please email the Teacher Regulation Branch at trb.employers@gov.bc.ca or call 236-455-1872.

Impacts to Child Care Programs from the Canada Post Strike
Due to the Canada Post labour disruption, mail services were interrupted as of Friday, November 15, 2024, and will impact ChildCareBC programs. As a result, mail is not being sent out currently, and there is no information on when and how mail services will resume.
