Hi all,

On Monday, Premier Eby will announce and swear in his cabinet, and the Deputy Minister to the Premier, Shannon Salter, will be naming her team. We will share updates as we receive them next week and share more in person on Thursday at the All Superintendents meeting.

As shared earlier this week in Premier Eby’s statement, the Province is mourning the passing of BC’s former Premier John Horgan. We will all miss his fervent dedication to the Province and the public service, his immense heart and his sense of humour. The public is invited to share messages of sympathy in an online book of condolences or in the book of condolences in the Hall of Honour at the Parliament Buildings in Victoria (weekdays 8:30 am – 4:30 pm until the day after his memorial service, the date of which is to be determined). All messages will be compiled and presented to his family.

This week’s bulletin includes information for you to pass on to families about the BC Training and Education Savings Grant; a virtual drop-in Q&A session for School Food Coordinators; new guides to support schools and districts with EDX account activation and account management; and two requests: 1) to provide your Online Learning School Principal contact for access to a new Online Learning Survey dashboard and 2) to submit and confirm your Online Graduation Assessments.

It was great to connect with many of you this week at the BCSSA Fall Conference where we were able to challenge and develop a deeper understanding of intentional stewardship of identity and belonging – also a priority for us as a ministry.
