Recently, parts of the Lower Mainland and communities in BC have experienced significant flooding due to the atmospheric river weather event. To support child care providers and families, there are programs available should a child care centre be impacted by flooding or any major emergency.

Hello all!
And just like that, we are into November! I hope that your school community had a safe and fun Hallowe’en and Diwali this week. Leaves are falling rapidly and there’s lingering darkness in the mornings, but the clocks go back this weekend giving us a little more morning light!
This week’s bulletin includes information on the ChildCareBC Maintenance Fund and Child Care Operating Funding (CCOF) available to child care centres impacted by flooding or an emergency. There’s also a notice that the current intake for the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program has been extended to November 7. The bulletin also contains information on school protection premiums for the 2024/25 fiscal year as well as information on a recent discipline outcome.

Reminder: ChildCareBC’s $10 a Day Intake Extended to November 7
Providers can apply for the current $10 a Day ChildCareBC program intake until November 7, 2024. The intake has been extended from the original closing date of October 31.
Providers who are interested in joining the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program can find eligibility criteria and information on how to apply online. Eligible providers will be able to use the My ChildCareBC Services portal with their existing login credentials to apply to become a $10 a Day ChildCareBC Centre.
Successful applicants for the 2024-25 intake will be notified in the new year.

The Risk Management Branch, Ministry of Finance, has released the 2024/25 premium allocations for the Schools Protection Program (SPP). Discipline outcomes are posted to enhance the transparency of the processes and decisions made with respect to complaints and reports about educators. Recently, an outcome was posted regarding Khaled Hanafi Dardir, who agreed to the cancellation of his certificate.
