Happy Friday! I hope many of your teams are engaged in great Pro-D activities today.
On Wednesday, in partnership with First Nations Education Steering Committee, we co-hosted the first Indigenous Education Council (IEC) Chairs’ Gathering, with over 50 being represented. It was a true milestone in our collective efforts to support implementation of IECs in every district across the province. Many great achievements were recognized and celebrated with numerous opportunities for improvement and growth highlighted. A key theme was value, and the need for engaged supportive school district leadership. Thank you for all that you are doing to enable the success of the IECs and our shared commitment to the success of all Indigenous leaners.

Reminder to Register for the Child Care Town Hall with Minister Beare
Early learning and child care professionals are invited to attend the upcoming virtual ChildCareBC town hall hosted by Minister of Education and Child Care, Lisa Beare on May 20, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 pm.
The Minister and ministry executive will speak to recent child care progress in B.C. and highlight upcoming engagement opportunities, including how early learning and child care professionals can help inform the next steps and future direction of ChildCareBC.
Participants will have an opportunity to share feedback during the event.

Teachers and Exempt Staff Labour Settlement Funding
Ministry staff have been consulting with the Funding Equity Committee on the Labour Settlement Funding allocation methodology and have the following update:
2025-26 School Year
Following the recent ratification of the BCTF collective agreement, funding for teachers and exempt staff wage increases, as well as increases to the Classroom Enhancement Fund have been added to Table E of the Summary of Grants to Date tables for 2025-26.
In addition, the Learning Improvement Fund and CommunityLINK allocations have been updated in Table A.
Funding will flow to school districts as a special grant by the end of May via the Common Disbursement System.
Labour settlement funding for support staff will be announced at a later date.
2026-27 School Year
The tentative plan is to have information available to districts in June.

Discipline outcomes are posted to enhance the transparency of the processes and decisions made with respect to complaints and reports about educators. Recently, an outcome was posted regarding Cinderella June Winter whose teaching certificate was suspended for five days.
