Hi everyone,
as with the summertime, we have a short bulletin including that the June 2024 Graduation results have been posted. This week’s bulletin is for me to share some staffing updates here at the ministry.
First, as you may know, we recently underwent a competitive process to permanently backfill the Assistant Deputy Minister, Services and Technology (S&T) Division and I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Wray is the successful candidate. Jennifer has been with the ministry and specifically, S&T since 2019, holding roles as the ED and Chief Technology Officer and ED for Student Information, Data and Education Networks. Prior to that, she was with the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, Ministry of Natural Gas Development, Ministry of Jobs Tourism and Skills Training, to name a few. Jennifer has been acting in the ADM, S&T role since April and has been a great addition to the ECC Executive Team. Please join me in congratulating Jennifer!
I also wanted to share some personal news with you. Sometimes opportunities present themselves. I have accepted an opportunity to contribute to the public sector in a different way in September as the CEO of the Research Universities’ Council of BC (RUCBC); I will start in my new role September 16th. As you can imagine, I am both excited and sad!
After ten years as a senior executive in government, it is the right moment for me. It has been an honour and privilege to serve in this role. I love the public service, the ECC executive and ministry team, the public education sector, and the collaborative work with all of you and your teams, AND this is an exciting opportunity for me at this point of my career. I will be staying with the ministry into September and will have more information on the Acting Deputy Minister in August. I look forward to connecting with you in the meantime as we continue with our work.
Have a great weekend,
Christina
