The Center for Systems Awareness will be facilitating a four-day introduction to Compassionate Systems Leadership workshop in Vancouver for education staff, educators, and partners. This workshop supports the Compassionate Systems Leadership element of the Mental Health in Schools Strategy. Registration details will be provided in the Deputy Minister’s Bulletin later this summer.

Hi, everyone. Just a short update this week, as I’m sure many of you are enjoying a well-deserved break. Of course, we all know that many communities are dealing with the ongoing realities and threats of wildfires and drought. Our thoughts are with the families of Devyn Gale and Adam Yeadon, young firefighters killed in Revelstoke and Fort Liard, NWT last week.
For this week, a few reminders regarding Compassionate Systems Leadership training; FESL procurement information and opportunities for experienced sector leaders; and annual updates from the Teacher Regulation Branch on certificate holders.

Framework for Enhancing Student Learning – Request for Standing Arrangement
An active Request for Standing Arrangement (RSA) has been posted on BC Bid. This RSA is a procurement process for the Ministry to contract sector leaders with demonstrated expertise and knowledge to support the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning. Application criteria and details can be found in the BC Bid posting. Applications are open through the RSA for 4 weeks, until August 16, 2023. Please forward this information to recently retired sector leaders who may have an interest in this work.

Notification of Certificate Suspensions
Pursuant to section 34 of the Teachers Act, employers are being notified that teaching certificates were suspended on July 1, 2023 for certificate holders who did not pay their 2023/2024 annual practice fee by June 30, 2023, and on July 12, 2023 for certificate holders who did not comply with criminal record check requirements. Visit the Employers’ Area and use the certificate verification tool to ensure that the certificate holders you employ remain certified.
