Reminder: Feeding Futures Fund and Student and Family Affordability Fund Reporting – Due July 31

A reminder that school districts are required to complete the year-end financial report (downloadable.xls) for the Feeding Futures Fund and the Student and Family Affordability Fund. Completed reports must be submitted to ECC.schoolfood@gov.bc.ca by Wednesday, July 31.

Please read the instructions carefully, as the reporting template includes a report for each of the following:
- Final report of actual 2023/24 Feeding Futures expenditures
- High-level Feeding Futures spending plan for 2024/25
- Final report of actual 2023/24 Student and Family Affordability Fund expenditures
- High-level 2024/25 spending plan for unused 2023/24 Student and Family Affordability funding

Early Childhood Educator Registry to Lift Hold for Post-Secondary Institution Program Recognition

In March 2017, a hold was placed on new applications for proposed Early Childhood Educator (ECE) programs as the ministry updated the B.C. Child Care Sector Occupational Competencies. Starting July 10, the Registry lifted the hold using a two-phased approach.

Updates on the Early Learning and Child Care Act & Affordable Child Care Benefit

The Early Learning and Child Care Act (ELCCA) will come into effect as of September 1, 2024. In addition, enhanced supports will also become available to improve the delivery of the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) in specific child care circumstances.
