Please see a very short update this week, including information about the new Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral Centre opening in September. Please ask your Early Learning Child Care (ELCC) Leads and others to amplify for awareness. I hope everyone has safe travels to the BC School Superintendents Association (BCSSA) Summer Leadership Gathering next week and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral Centre to Begin Operations on September 1

The general solicitation for Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral Centres (CCRR) support services is now complete.

Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie-Britannique will begin providing Francophone Child Care Resource and Referral services on September 1, 2024.

B.C.’s first dedicated Francophone CCRR service provider will provide services in French to support Francophone families, child care providers and the child care workforce. The provider will also assist local CCRRs in supporting Francophone service users within their communities.

The ministry would like to thank everyone who has been part of this process as work begins with Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie-Britannique in the years ahead. For questions about the processes related to the CFR, please get in touch with CC.PCS@gov.bc.ca.

Guidance for HVAC Systems in B.C. Schools

The ministry has updated the Guidance for HVAC Systems in B.C. Schools to reflect recently released guidance from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). These guidelines are not intended to replace ASHRAE guidance or standards and are being provided as an additional resource that school districts can use to inform their current HVAC programming requirements and future capital plan submissions. Discipline outcomes are posted to enhance the transparency of the processes and decisions made with respect to complaints and reports about educators. Recently, a summary of an outcome was posted about a teacher whose certificate was suspended for one day. The outcome has been anonymized to protect the identity of students who were harmed, abused, or exploited by the teacher.
