Certificate Suspensions for CRC Non-Compliance
On July 11, 2025, two teaching certificates were suspended for certificate holders who did not comply with criminal record check requirements. Please visit News & Notices in the Employers’ Area to check the list of suspensions. Certificate holders recently employed by you will be flagged. You can also use the Certificate Verification Tool to check the status of the certificate holders you employ. On July 1, 2025, the teaching certificates of 3,481 certificate holders were suspended because their 2025-26 annual practice fee was not paid by June 30, 2025. Ensure certificate holders pay the annual practice fee so that they can teach this fall. Ministerial Order on Unexpected Health Emergencies Implementation
In July 28, 2025, a letter was distributed to all superintendents providing additional guidance and resources related to the recent amendment to the Support Services for Schools Ministerial Order and the new Response to Unexpected Health Emergencies Policy, which came into effect on July 1, 2025.
The letter outlines the following key implementation timelines:
- Policy Submission – All boards of education must submit their completed policies to the Ministry by December 31, 2025.
- Secondary Schools – Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and naloxone must be in all secondary schools by December 31, 2025.
- Elementary and Middle Schools – AEDs and naloxone must be in all elementary and middle schools by September 8, 2026.
The letter also includes guidance on procurement and training opportunities to support the implementation of AEDs and naloxone in schools and clarifies that an Administrative Procedure meets the requirements for policy submission. Discipline Outcomes
Discipline outcomes are posted to enhance the transparency of the processes and decisions made with respect to complaints and reports about educators. Recently, outcomes were posted regarding Hussan Ali Riasat, whose certificate was suspended for two days, Todd Erin Graham, whose certificate was suspended for one day, Eric Joseph Bernard Enreight Blouin, whose certificate was suspended for three weeks, Darren Richard Brown, whose certificate was suspended for two weeks and Elizabeth Alaine Cousar, who agreed to a reprimand. Shay Bernard Crawford’s certificate was cancelled, and he agreed to a ten-year ban from reapplying to teach in the K–12 education system.
