The 2024-25 ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund Closes Today

The 2024-25 ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund closes today, August 2, and the ministry will no longer accept applications after 11:59 PM.

PLEASE NOTE – Due to a technical issue, some applications to the New Spaces Fund may not have been received. If you applied to the New Spaces Fund by email after May 15, 2024, but did not receive an automatic reply confirming receipt, please call: 1-888-338-6622 (option 5) as soon as possible to confirm your application has been received.

If you received an automatic reply confirming receipt when you applied, no action is needed on your part. School district requests for capital funding are not affected by this technical issue.

School districts can continue to submit 2025-26 minor capital child care project requests using the Capital Asset Planning System (MyCAPS) until September 29, 2024. For more information, refer to the Capital Plan Instructions.

As you may know the 2024 British Columbia general election is scheduled for October 19, 2024. Starting September 21, 2024, when the B.C. general election is officially called, the B.C. government will enter a caretaker period, which limits government communication to statutory, routine, emergency or public health and safety matters.

Adjudicating all applications to the New Spaces Fund will not be completed before the caretaker period starts. Work will continue during this time and decisions on applications will be shared after the caretaker period ends. Information about future ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund intakes will be available in early 2025. For guidance on the development of your child care project, please contact the Child Care Development team at the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
