The Ministry of Education and Child Care uses records provided by schools to confirm eligibility for all awards under the Provincial Scholarships Program:
Moreover, as per policy, graduating students had until August 31 to meet requirements.
Final marks for any summer course completions, and all other data, including citizenship/permanent residency status, should now be up to date for graduates of the 2024/25 school year.
This is a reminder to take any last steps necessary to ensure the accuracy of your student records so that those students will be considered appropriately for scholarships this fall. Find reporting resources on the TRAX Information web page.
Additional Information
Citizenship/Permanent Residency: Canadian citizens and permanent residents must be reported with a “C” indicator in extracts to TRAX from student information systems (SIS), such as My Education BC (MyED). It’s expected that the citizenship/residency status for recent Grade 12 graduates has been correctly recorded in schools’ SIS and successfully reported to the ministry. Verify this by reviewing student Transcript Verification Reports (TVRs) on the School Secure Web. Only students who have a “C” indicator reported are eligible for scholarships; all other indicators, including blank entries, make students ineligible.
BC Achievement: The BC Achievement scholarship recognizes graduates with the top academic achievement in the province. For this scholarship, academic achievement is based on the subset of Grades 10–12 courses, including electives, that are used to meet graduation requirements; those courses used for graduation are marked on the transcript. The courses used vary from student to student and those marks combined differ from a grade point average.
