New Education Assistant Competency Framework Launches

As part of the K–12 Workforce Plan, the ministry has developed an Education Assistant (EA) Competency Framework that outlines the core knowledge and skills needed to be successful in an EA role. Designed to support future EAs to be job-ready upon graduation, this framework aims to promote consistency across education programs for EAs in the province. While use of the framework is optional, it offers valuable guidance for post-secondary institutions and school districts looking to strengthen EA preparation and support.

The framework was developed in collaboration with K-12 partners including representatives from post-secondary institutions, Indigenous partners, employers, K-12 unions, parents, and inclusive education advocacy groups.
