Families will benefit from 770 new $10 a Day ChildCareBC spaces at 22 child care centres in March and April 2025, bringing the total number to approximately 16,000 spaces throughout BC Expansion of the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program helps families access quality, affordable and inclusive child care through the Canada-British Columbia Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
The ministry is informing applicants of the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program in stages. Applicants have been selected and those who are ineligible have been contacted.
About $10 a Day ChildCareBC Centres
- Centres receive funding to offer families reduced-cost child care up to a maximum of $200 per month for regular full-time care, regardless of family income.
- Centres receive stable funding through long-term funding agreements.
- Families save $800 a month, on average, per child.
- A $10-a-day space reduces the average cost of child care from $1,000 a month (for full-time centre-based care) to $200 a month.
- The minister’s mandate letter includes the ongoing implementation of the ChildCareBC plan to improve access to accessible, affordable care.
