The Office of the Comptroller General requires districts to provide a Management Representation Letter, effective June 15, 2026, in support of the Summary Financial Statements as at March 31, 2026. Please email a PDF of the letter dated and signed June 15, 2026, to EDUC.GRESDReporting@gov.bc.ca by June 17, 2026.
Consistent with prior years, each Crown corporation, agency and schools, university, colleges and hospitals sector entity is required to supply the Comptroller General with a management representation letter, effective June 15, 2026. The purpose of this letter is to provide the Office of the Comptroller General with assurance that they may rely on the school district’s system of internal controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of the financial information included in their audited financial statements and provided in the GRE reporting at March 31, 2026. This assurance is then used in their verification of the public accounts information to the Office of the Auditor General.
As the Ministry of Education and Child Care is responsible for the collection of financial statements and related items for school districts, we require the Secretary-Treasurer to sign and forward a copy of the Management Representation Letter signed and dated June 15, 2026, by e-mailing a PDF copy to EDUC.GRESDReporting@gov.bc.ca by Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Please insert the school district name in the space provided in the first paragraph and ensure that the letter is issued on school district letterhead. The letter, which can be downloaded from the link above, is in Word format and should be copied/pasted onto your district letterhead.
