The 2024-2025 Early Learning and Child Care Act Annual Report can now be found on the Our Plan: ChildCareBC web page. The report shares actions taken to support the design and delivery of affordable, inclusive, accessible and quality child care in B.C.
The report highlights successes between 2024 and 2025 including:
- Establishing a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding with First Nations Leadership Council and Canada
- Eliminating waitlist fees at child care centres participating in Child Care Operating Funding and Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative programs
- Creating a streamlined application process for boards of education seeking to create child care on school grounds
- Supporting the child care workforce through testing and collecting feedback on a wage grid under the Operating Funding Model test
- Introducing the Learning in the Primary Years as a resource to help teachers support children’s development from kindergarten through Grade 3
This is the first annual report published under the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
