Federal Government Announces Intake Cap on International Study Permits

On January 22, federal Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced an intake cap on international student permit applications for a period of two years. K–12, graduate, and post-graduate study permits are excluded from the cap, and study permit renewals will also not be impacted. Ministry staff are working with partner ministries and federal government colleagues to support implementation and to promote timely communications with districts. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
