Expansion of Integrated Child and Youth Teams

Earlier today, the Province announced that seven new communities, in addition to the one new community announced earlier this month, will begin implementation of Integrated Child and Youth (ICY) teams in 2024. The new teams will be based on school district boundaries serving communities in and around Central Coast, Cowichan Valley, Delta, Gold Trail, Nicola-Similkameen, Peace River South, Qualicum, and Surrey.

ICY teams provide services to all children and youth up to age 19, and their families residing within the school district boundary, including those attending First Nations-operated schools, independent schools, alternative school environments, and those not in school. Children and youth can connect with ICY teams through various access points, including community service providers, school staff, primary care providers, mental-health and addictions services, Foundry centres, and organizations that support First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people.

Please visit B.C.’s Integrated Child & Youth Teams web page for details about team composition, service settings, access, Indigenous services and other resources.
