Emergency Management Information for Local School Officials

Evacuations from active wildfires are happening in communities across B.C. In some cases, whole communities or neighbourhoods have been evacuated. First Nations, local governments, and the Province of B.C. are working together to support evacuees by providing up to date information and delivering Emergency Support Services (ESS).

If families or staff are impacted by wildfire evacuations and have questions about what to do, they should visit:

  1. Their local authority’s website (search for a First Nation or local government).
  2. EmergencyInfoBC.ca for the most current information and recommended actions.
  3. Evacuee Registration and Assistance to register for emergency support services.

MyEducation BC Registration Procedures for Students Impacted by Wildfires

  • For schools that have been impacted by wildfire evacuations, no action is required at this time.
  • Schools receiving displaced students will cross-enroll them following usual procedures.
  • Schools receiving students displaced by wildfire must also assign a specific code in MyEducation BC, which will aid in understanding the scope of impact on students and schools.
  • Districts are instructed to have their level one support staff contact the Fujitsu service desk via Heat ticket, phone 1-888-769-5678, or email support@isw-bc.ca for specific information and procedures.
