Changes to the School Act Require Indigenous Education Councils, First Nation Schools of Choice, and a Model Local Education Agreement

Today, the Province proposed amendments to the School Act to act on commitments in the Declaration Act Action Plan and the BC Tripartite Education Agreement (BCTEA). The changes are intended to support better education outcomes for First Nation and other Indigenous students attending provincial public schools, and more effective relationships between boards of education and First Nations. See more detailed information on the proposed amendments in the news release and the policy documents. More information will be shared on Thursday, October 26 with K-12 partners and district leaders.
