B.C. Throne Speech Outlines Plans to Build a Stronger, More Secure Future

In yesterday’s Throne Speech, Lieutenant-Governor Janet Austin outlined the NDP government’s plan to tackle a number of significant challenges facing our province, such as rising costs of living, the housing crisis, access to public health care, public safety, violent crime, and mental health supports. Specific to the K-12 education and childcare sectors, the Throne Speech also referenced record investments for new and improved schools, ongoing funding for the recruitment of new teachers, boosts to child care spaces and the early childhood workforce so more parents can return to work, reductions in childcare fees, and the recent launch of the anti‑racism action plan for K‑12 students.
