There are currently 173 wildfires burning across the province. Of these wildfires, seventy-nine per cent are classified as Being Held or Under Control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prince George and Coastal Fire Centres remain the busiest in terms of activity. The remaining fire centres are maintaining a high initial attack success rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire centres are beginning to prepare for prescribed burning when conditions are favourable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is currently only one Wildfire of Note in the province, the Battleship Mountain wildfire (G72150), located in the Prince George Fire Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather forecast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, a ridge of high pressure over the central Interior will provide one more day of warm dry weather to most Interior zones. A cold front across the Northwest Fire Centre will spread showers to the North and Mid Coasts. Moderate gusty southerly winds will occur across much of the province. Elevated fire weather conditions are forecast for the Southern Peace and Vanjam zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, temperatures fall while relative humidities climb in the wake of the cold front. Showers also persist along the coast with heavy rain over the North Coast. Winds remain elevated across most zones, particularly the Peace and Fort Nelson areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A ridge will continue to build over the weekend bringing wind across the north of the province and warm and dry temperatures on Sunday. The ridge will extend further north on Monday while the southern half of the province and the Peace region remain warm and dry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
