There are currently 192 wildfires burning across the province. Lightning activity over the weekend resulted in some new wildfire starts in all six fire centres, however initial attack success remains high. Of these 192 wildfires, 48% are classified as Being Held or Under Control and 73% are less than four hectares in size. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incoming weather will bring a chance of new lightning-caused wildfire starts to the Southeast Fire Centre but will be accompanied by rain. This weather will be variable in location and intensity but we anticipate overall it will reduce fire behaviour on existing incidents and assist ongoing firefighting efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

37% of current provincial wildfire activity is concentrated in the Southeast Fire Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather forecast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An upper low is forecast to remain nearly stationary over the far south of B.C. for the next few days. Tonight that upper low is forecast to drift slowly eastward along the US border overnight. There is a risk of lightning over the southern half of the province as a result. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow the upper low will stall over the Okanagan. It will bring some thundershowers mainly in the Southeast and Kamloops Fire Centres. Very warm temperatures will continue, though it will be cooler in the southeast with the cloud coverage and expected showers. Some gusty winds in the Cassiar, elsewhere winds will be light and locally gusty, especially near thundershowers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
