Crews will be burning approximately 100 piles as conditions allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key goals of this project include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Removal of dead\/burnt trees within striking distance of a new proposed fence line<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bucking and piling of felled trees and debris<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burning of piles to remove fire hazard and debris build up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing critical saw training opportunities for wildfire ground crews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Smoke may be visible from Vernon, Monte Lake and surrounding areas, and to motorists travelling along Highway 97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exact timing of this pile burning will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as Monday, Oct 5.
