If you are in a municipality, be sure to check if local prohibitions are in place. If you are within a regional district or improvement district, this prohibition applies as well as any local prohibition issued by the regional district or improvement district. BC Parks follows BC Wildfire Service prohibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is prohibited<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/prevention\/fire-bans-and-restrictions\/open-burning?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Prohibition-Cat-2-%26-3---2025&amp;utm_source=Envoke-IB---All-Zones&amp;utm_term=Information-Bulletin%3A-Category-2-and-3-open-fire-prohibition#Cat1\">Category 1 campfires<\/a> including the following equipment and activities:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sky Lanterns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open burning on the following types of land within municipal boundaries:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parks, conservancies and recreation areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recreation sites, recreation trails, interpretive forest sites and trail-based recreation areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ecological reserves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wildlife management areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private managed forest land<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/public-safety-and-emergency-services\/wildfire-status\/fire-bans-and-restrictions\/category-3-open-fire-poster.pdf?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Prohibition-Cat-2-%26-3---2025&amp;utm_source=Envoke-IB---All-Zones&amp;utm_term=Information-Bulletin%3A-Category-2-and-3-open-fire-prohibition\">Category 2 open fires<\/a> remain prohibited through the entire Cariboo Fire Centre including the following associated equipment and activities:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Binary exploding targets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fireworks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burn Barrels or Burn Cages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Controlled air incinerators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air curtain burners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carbonizers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is not prohibited<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Outdoor stoves as defined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/about-bcws\/governance\/legislation-regulations?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Cat-1-Prohibition-Aug---2025&amp;utm_source=Envoke-IB---All-Zones&amp;utm_term=Information-Bulletin%3A-Category-1-campfires-prohibited-throug\">Wildfire Regulation<\/a>, a CSA-rated or ULC-rated device used outdoors for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Penalties<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Anyone found in contravention of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/prevention\/fire-bans-and-restrictions\/open-burning?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Cat-1-Prohibition-Aug---2025&amp;utm_source=Envoke-IB---All-Zones&amp;utm_term=Information-Bulletin%3A-Category-1-campfires-prohibited-throug\">open fire<\/a> prohibition may be issued a ticket for $1,150, required to pay an administrative penalty of $10,000, or, if convicted in court, fined up to $100,000 and\/or sentenced for up to one year in jail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your fire causes or contributes to a wildfire, you may be fined up to $1 million and\/or sentenced to up to 3 years in jail, as well as be responsible for all firefighting and associated costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To report an unattended campfire or open burning violation calling call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To report illegal fires in a local fire department\u2019s jurisdiction, call 9-1-1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dial *5555 on a cell phone or call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free to report a wildfire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <a
