This prohibition will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, October 15, 2026, or until the order is rescinded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional prohibited activities and equipment:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following activities and use of the following equipment, materials and substances will also be prohibited in the Stuart Nechako Forest District (VanJam Fire Zone):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Binary exploding targets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burn barrels or burn cages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Controlled air incinerators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air curtain burners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carbonizers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This prohibition does not apply to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/prevention\/fire-bans-and-restrictions\/open-burning?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=IB-partial-prohibition&amp;utm_source=Envoke-Envoke&amp;utm_term=#:~:text=for%20outdoor%20stoves-,Category%201%20campfire,-A%20category%201\"><strong>Category 1<\/strong><\/a><strong> (campfires) <\/strong>that are half-metre high by half-metre wide or smaller, or the use of cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before lighting a fire of any size, check the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/prevention\/fire-bans-and-restrictions\/prince-george-fire-centre-bans?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=IB-partial-prohibition&amp;utm_source=Envoke-Envoke&amp;utm_term=\">BC Wildfire Service open fire prohibitions<\/a> and contact your local government for any bylaw restrictions in your area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on open fire and safer burning see our website: <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.bc.ca\/saferburning?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=IB-partial-prohibition&amp;utm_source=Envoke-Envoke&amp;utm_term=\">https:\/\/gov.bc.ca\/saferburning<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where this prohibition applies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This prohibition applies to all areas of the Stuart Nechako Forest District (VanJam Fire Zone) that are outside municipal boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This prohibition also applies to the following types of Crown land within municipal boundaries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parks, conservancies and recreation areas (Park Act)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recreation sites, recreation trails, interpretive forest sites and trail-based recreation areas (Forest and Range Practices Act)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ecological reserves (Ecological Reserve Act)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wildlife management areas (Wildlife Act)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private managed forest land (Private Managed Forest Land Act)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>See the map below for the areas of the Prince George Fire Centre remaining under Category 2 and 3 prohibitions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"927\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/786\/2026\/05\/PGFC_partial-rescind_May272026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/786\/2026\/05\/PGFC_partial-rescind_May272026.jpg 927w, https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/786\/2026\/05\/PGFC_partial-rescind_May272026-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/786\/2026\/05\/PGFC_partial-rescind_May272026-791x1024.jpg 791w, https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/786\/2026\/05\/PGFC_partial-rescind_May272026-768x994.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 927px) 100vw, 927px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Penalties for non-compliance:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals who violate the open fire prohibition may face fines of up to $1,150, administrative penalties of up to $10,000, or if convicted in court fines up to $100,000 and\/or one year in jail. If a prohibited fire leads to a wildfire, the individual may be held responsible for the full cost of firefighting and any damage to Crown resources.
