- Smoke and flames may be visible<\/strong> from Williams Lake and surrounding communities and to motorists travelling along Highway 20, Dog Creek Road and Bond Lake Road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Crews will ignite ground fuels within pre-established boundaries to remove combustible materials.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Ignitions will only proceed with favorable weather and atmospheric venting allowing smoke to clear quickly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Personnel will remain on site until there is no risk of the fire spreading beyond the perimeter and return daily until the fire is out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Smoke from within the perimeter of the burn may be visible up to two weeks after ignition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

- Reduce wildfire risk<\/strong> to the Bond Lake area and surrounding areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Use fire to restore forest health<\/strong> to encourage a properly functioning ecosystem and reduce accumulations of dead wood and other combustible material.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Support previously completed fuel management treatments<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Strengthen collaboration<\/strong> between Williams Lake First Nation, the Cariboo Chilcotin Natural Resource District and the Cariboo Fire Centre to grow capacity and knowledge for cultural and prescribed burning outside of emergency response situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
