CASTLEGAR \u2013 To help reduce the risk of wildfires, the BC Wildfire Service is supporting the District of Invermere and Rocky Mountain Resource District Wildfire Risk Reduction program in conducting a prescribed burn at District Lot 4616 in the South Invermere area. This burn is located east of the CastleRock residential neighbourhood, within the District of Invermere, and will cover up to 28 hectares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exact timing of this burn will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as Friday, April 10, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smoke may impact residents near the burn area and may be visible from Invermere and surrounding communities. Smoke may also be visible to motorists travelling along Highway 93 and Highway 95.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burning will proceed if conditions are suitable to achieve objectives and allow for smoke dispersal, though smoke may linger in the following days, particularly the morning after burn operations. Despite all smoke management precautions, unintended smoke impacts are possible after any burn.
