HOPE \u2013 The BC Wildfire Service will be supporting the Coast Area Regional Operations in conducting a pile burning project located about one kilometre West of the confluence of the Nahatlatch and Fraser Rivers, west of the Community of Boothroyd. Crews will be burning approximately 20 piles this spring as conditions allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smoke may be visible from communities throughout the Fraser Canyon and to motorists travelling along the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exact timing of this burn will depend on suitable weather and site conditions, but could begin as early as Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Burning will proceed if conditions allow for effective smoke dispersal during burn operations, although some smoke may linger in the following days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
