VERNON \u2013 The BC Wildfire Service will be supporting the Okanagan Shuswap Natural Resource District in a pile burning project located about four kilometres south of Monte Lake. Crews will be burning approximately 100 piles as conditions allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key goals of this project include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smoke may be visible from Vernon, Monte Lake, surrounding areas and to motorists travelling along Highway 97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exact timing of this pile burning will depend on weather and site conditions, but it could begin as early as Wednesday, March 25. Burning will proceed if conditions are suitable and allow for smoke dispersal during burn operations, though smoke may also linger in the following days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
