{"id":27022,"date":"2025-10-15T13:59:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T20:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/bcwildfire\/?p=27022"},"modified":"2026-01-08T10:15:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T18:15:15","slug":"prescribed-burn-planned-for-dipping-road-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/bcwildfire\/prescribed-burn-planned-for-dipping-road-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Prescribed burn planned for Dipping Road"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WILLIAMS LAKE \u2013 The BC Wildfire Service, in partnership with Williams Lake Community Forest and Williams Lake First Nation, will conduct a prescribed burn approximately 10 kilometres west of Williams Lake, north of Highway 20, beside the Fraser River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When and where<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Burning is expected to begin as early as Thursday, October 16, 2025, and continue periodically until Friday, November 7, 2025.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The prescribed burn will cover approximately 29 hectares within the Williams Lake Community Forest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ignitions will proceed only if conditions are suitable and allow for quick smoke dissipation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What to expect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Smoke and flames may be visible from Williams Lake and surrounding areas, and to motorists travelling on Highway 20.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low-to moderate-intensity spot fires will be lit within pre-established boundaries to remove combustible materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Firefighters will closely monitor the fire activity at all times during the burn. Firefighters will remain on-site to monitor conditions into the evening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Smoke from within the perimeter of the burn may be visible up to 72 hours after ignition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This video showcases the process and some of the work that goes into planning Prescribed Burns.
