Crew History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fraser Unit Crew was established in 1990 under the name Coastal Unit Crew and was a part of FORED (Forestry Education). In 2008, the crew transitioned to the Ministry of Forests, officially becoming the Fraser Unit Crew. The crew is based near Cultus Lake in the Chilliwack area and primarily operates within the Fraser Valley, which includes Greater Vancouver and extends to Manning Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, the Fraser Unit Crew has fostered a culture centered around service, teamwork and personal achievement. As the scope of its responsibilities has expanded to encompass an all-hazards emergency service\u2014including floods, fires, and other natural disasters\u2014the crew has adapted to meet these evolving challenges. Each season, the team builds upon previous experiences and seeks to innovate in order to continuously improve. The guiding principle of \u201cBetter People = Better Firefighters\u201d is a central tenet within the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nature of the crew\u2019s work instills a strong sense of pride, and the team carries this pride with them whether responding to incidents within the province, across the nation or assisting international communities in need. The commitment to service is driven not only by professional obligations but by intrinsic motivation to make a positive impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each unit crew in British Columbia is identified by its distinctive patch, which fosters a strong sense of unity and identity. The Fraser Unit Crew\u2019s patch is also associated with the crew\u2019s mission statement, which is prominently displayed above the entrance to the locker room. Beneath the statement, the words \u201cLeave the Patch in a Better Place\u201d are inscribed, reflecting the crew\u2019s ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n
