{"id":18463,"date":"2025-03-20T16:48:48","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T23:48:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/bcwildfire\/?p=18463"},"modified":"2025-03-21T09:41:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T16:41:49","slug":"prescribed-burn-planned-near-westridge-subdivision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gov.bc.ca\/bcwildfire\/prescribed-burn-planned-near-westridge-subdivision\/","title":{"rendered":"Prescribed burn planned near Westridge Subdivision"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WILLIAMS LAKE \u2013 The City of Williams Lake and Williams Lake First Nation, with support from the BC Wildfire Service, are planning a prescribed burn within city limits to help reduce wildfire risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When and Where<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The prescribed burn will take place on <strong>about 20 hectares of land northeast of the Westridge Subdivision<\/strong>, between Country Club Boulevard and Westridge Subdivision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparation work that includes small scale fire ignitions to create control lines may start as early as <strong>Tuesday, March 25.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The main burn may begin the same day and <strong>continue periodically until Friday, April 4,<\/strong> but will only proceed if conditions are safe, with favorable weather and atmospheric venting allowing smoke to clear quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What to Expect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Smoke and flames will be highly visible from vantage points in town that look west across Williams Creek toward Westridge Subdivision.
