Smoke from pile burning may be visible in the Chilcotin Fire Zone

Alexis Creek—The Ministry of Forests will be burning approximately 40 piles of woody debris near Siwash and the 7000 Road. The piles are being burned to reduce fuel build-up and prepare for future broadcast burning in the area. Smoke may be visible in the surrounding area, including the 900 Road.

Burning will occur until February 28, 2023, at which time any fires still burning will be extinguished. Ignitions and burning will only proceed if weather and site conditions are suitable and allow smoke to dissipate.
